Pressotherapy for men in Laval

Forty-five minutes of compression, and legs that weigh less on the way out. You stay dressed, and there is nothing to do.

TYPE OF CARE

Esthetician's treatment. No medical procedure.

What is pressotherapy

Sequential compression delivered by inflatable OMyGuard boots working from the ankle upward. Boots, for the legs only, not a full-body wrap.

The mechanism deserves thirty seconds. When you walk, the contractions of your calves help push blood back up the body. They get called the second heart for that reason.

Which is what changes the moment you stop moving. A day sitting in meetings or in a vehicle, a day standing without walking, a six-hour flight: that muscular help drops off, and plenty of men then feel their legs heavier by evening. The boots apply mechanically a compression that walking produces another way.

What concerns a man of thirty-five in particular: this is the recovery tool athletes use most, and you have probably already seen it on them. Same principle, applied here after a hard session or after a day that pinned you to a chair.

Is pressotherapy right for you?

The treatment works return circulation in the legs. It touches neither muscle nor fat.

It is for you if:

  • You recover badly from your hard sessions

A long run, leg day, a hockey game. It is the most common use among men. The sports studies, though, show modest and variable benefits: count on the feeling of light legs, not on faster muscular recovery.

  • You spend the day sitting or driving

Office, truck, cab of a machine. Eight hours without your calves pumping, and by evening the ankles show it.

  • You travel for work

After a long flight, familiar heaviness in both legs usually sorts itself out. But swelling that persists, or that affects mostly one leg, gets seen by a doctor before any compression.

  • You want the least demanding appointment on this site

Forty-five dollars, forty-five minutes, dressed, no preparation. That is hard to beat as a first visit.

Do you want someone working your legs by hand?

Lymphatic drainage is manual, longer, and it comes with an insurance receipt.

Contraindications

THROMBOSIS OR PHLEBITIS

Known or suspected, it belongs to medical care rather than to an esthetic treatment. Medical advice comes first, always.

ARTERIAL DISEASE OR A KNOWN VASCULAR PROBLEM

Diagnosed poor arterial circulation, significant vascular disease, vascular surgery: say so before booking. The use of compression is then validated medically.

HEART FAILURE

It needs your medical team's agreement. Severe or decompensated forms do not belong to an esthetic treatment. Same for uncontrolled high blood pressure: the treatment waits for a medical opinion.

REDUCED SENSATION IN THE LEGS

Neuropathy or a loss of sensation is worth naming too: it makes excessive pressure harder to notice.

AN ACTIVE INFECTION ON THE LEG

Cellulitis, an infected wound, a widespread rash: the session is rescheduled.

A RECENT FRACTURE OR A CAST

Compression acts along the whole length of the leg. Wait until it has healed.

SHARP NEW PAIN IN ONE CALF

That is not a contraindication, it is an emergency. See someone before coming here.

A treatment adjusted to your legs

Two men do not get the same session, and three things explain why.

THE PRESSURE
It is set before starting and corrected during. A muscular athlete's leg tolerates more than a leg worn out by a day on its feet.
WHEN YOU COME
After effort, the goal is recovery. After a day sitting, it is decongestion. The setting is not the same.
WHAT YOU DO NEXT
If you leave and walk, the effect runs longer. If you leave and sit in a car for two hours, less so.

The session step by step

Here is how a pressotherapy session runs at Béa, step by step.

  • A practitioner and a man looking together at the areas to treat

    1

    Two questions

What you are after, and whether a contraindication is in play. It is short, but it is not optional.

  • An electrode strap being fastened across a man's abdomen

    2

    Getting settled

Lying down, dressed, boots on up to the hips. A blanket if you want one.

  • The device's control screen, a man lying on the bed behind

    3

    Setting the pressure

It rises to the level that suits you. You can bring it back down at any moment.

  • An infrared wrap folded over a man's torso

    4

    The compression cycles

From the ankle upward, in waves. This is where most people fall asleep.

  • A man in a robe walking toward the showers

    5

    Finishing

The boots deflate, you stand up. Nothing to rinse, nothing to remove, nothing to plan for.

Common questions

Everything people ask us before a first session, answered plainly.

Is this the same as the recovery boots athletes use?

Yes, same principle and often the same class of equipment. Sequential compression has been used in sports recovery for a long time, and you have probably seen it on runners or professional players. The difference is the setting: here it is a forty-five minute appointment in a quiet room, with someone setting the pressure for you and checking that no contraindication applies. If you train seriously, that is probably the use that speaks to you most.

How is it different from lymphatic drainage?

The network worked and the way it is done. Pressotherapy acts on venous circulation, by machine, with firm pressure, in forty-five minutes at forty-five dollars. Lymphatic drainage acts on the lymphatic network, by hand, with very light pressure, in sixty minutes at a hundred and twenty dollars, and it comes with an insurance receipt. For recovery after effort, the boots are more effective and cheaper. For settled, diffuse swelling, manual drainage goes further.

Does it treat cellulite or reduce volume?

No, and it is not presented that way here. What changes after a session is how much fluid is pooling in your legs, so the sensation and sometimes the look by evening. It has nothing to do with fat and it does not alter tissue structure. The lightness is real and immediate; the rest would be a promise.

Does it hurt?

No. The sensation is a lot like a blood pressure cuff, longer and moving progressively up the leg. It is strong pressure but it comes and goes rather than staying on. Most people find it pleasant, and plenty fall asleep before the end. If one segment squeezes too hard, say so; the pressure is corrected during the session.

How long does the effect last?

The feeling of lightness can be immediate, but it is temporary, and how long it lasts depends above all on what caused the heaviness. After a flight or a hard training session, one visit often brings relief on the day. If the cause is your job, it comes back every day and the treatment becomes maintenance rather than a fix. In that case the real lever is free: stand and walk five minutes every hour, and raise your legs in the evening.

Can I come straight from the gym?

Yes, and it is a very good moment for it, provided you have showered. The session is done dressed, so bring something clean and comfortable, shorts or soft trousers. Plenty of men line up training and pressotherapy in the same evening for exactly that reason.

Do you go above the legs?

No. Here the boots treat the legs, foot to hip, and nothing beyond. There is no full-body wrap and no sleeves for the arms. If your subject is elsewhere, say so, another treatment answers it better.
