Reiki for men in Laval
An hour lying down, dressed, with nothing to do and nothing to say. Reiki addresses stress, restlessness and nervous fatigue.

TYPE OF CARE
Relaxation practice. No medical treatment or diagnosis.
What is reiki
A Japanese relaxation practice using laid-on hands, formalised in the 1920s.
What actually happens fits in three lines. Lying on a table, still dressed, that is where you spend the hour. The practitioner places her hands on a series of points on the body, or a few centimetres above them, and leaves them there a minute or two before moving on. Nothing is manipulated, nothing is kneaded, nothing is pressed.
Let us be blunt, since you are wondering: this is a relaxation practice, and medicine does not recognise it. You will find no promise of a physiological effect on this page, no energy diagram, no explanation dressed up as science. We would rather lose the appointment than sell you something under a false name.
What is left, once that is said, is not nothing: sixty minutes lying down, no phone, nobody waiting on an answer from you. For a man of thirty-five who has not had an hour like that in months, that is an honest reason to come.

Is reiki right for you?
The appointment puts you horizontal for an hour. That is already most of what it offers.
It is for you if:
You cannot manage to do nothing
Not on Sunday, not on holiday. Here the structure is imposed from outside: you are lying down, there is nothing to decide, and it works better than a resolution does.
You do not want to be massaged
Some men dislike being handled, and that is a legitimate preference. This is the one treatment in the family where absolutely nothing is pressed.
You are coming with someone else and want to try
That is a common way in, and there is nothing awkward about it. A lot of first appointments for men start exactly there.
You are sceptical and you intend to stay that way
You do not have to believe anything to lie down for an hour. Nobody here will ask you to sign on to anything.
Do you want a tight back genuinely worked on?
Massage therapy does that work, and it comes with an insurance receipt.
Contraindications
NO PHYSICAL CONTRAINDICATION
There is no pressure, no manipulation and no product. It is the most harmless treatment at the institute, and that is also what limits what it can claim.
A HEALTH PROBLEM THAT NEEDS FOLLOW-UP
Reiki replaces nothing and postpones nothing. If a medical appointment is waiting, it comes first.
PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS
The subject needs professional support the institute does not provide. We point you elsewhere rather than take you on.
AN EXPECTATION OF A MEDICAL RESULT
If you come looking for an effect on an illness, you will be disappointed, and we would rather say so before you pay.
A WOUND OR A PAINFUL AREA
The hands rest elsewhere. Just mention it on arrival.

A session adjusted to what you accept
Two men do not get the same session, and three things explain why.
- CONTACT, OR NO CONTACT
- Hands rest on the body, or just above it. If you would rather they did not touch, say so, and nothing else about the session changes.
- THE LENGTH
- Thirty minutes to try, sixty for the full session. The short format exists precisely for those who are not sure.
- SILENCE
- It is the default and it is rarely questioned. No debrief will be asked of you at the end.
The session step by step
We want to do everything we can to bring you toward the best version of yourself. That is why every session follows the same steps.
Why choose L'Institut Béa
WE TELL YOU WHAT IT IS, AND WHAT IT IS NOT
A relaxation practice medicine does not recognise. You read that here, not after paying.
NO STAGING
No incense, no crystals, no speech if you do not want one. A room, a table, an hour.
A SHORT FORMAT TO TRY IT
Thirty minutes exists exactly for those who are not convinced in advance.

Their experienceat Béa

Common questions
Everything people ask us before a first session, answered plainly.
Honestly, does it work?
That depends entirely on what you mean by work, and here is the honest answer. If you are asking whether reiki acts on an illness, on inflammation, on anything measurable, the answer is no: it is not recognised by medicine and we do not present it as anything else. If you are asking whether an hour lying still, without a screen or a demand on you, with someone resting their hands on you, leaves you calmer on the way out, then yes, and that holds for the large majority of people. Those are two different questions and they do not have the same answer.
I am a complete sceptic. Is it worth it?
You have nothing to believe, and nobody here will ask you to sign on. Scepticism does not stop a body from settling: you lie there for an hour regardless, and that is what produces most of what people feel. If you want to try it without putting much money down, the thirty-minute format at $80 exists for exactly that. Some men leave saying they felt nothing special but feel better, and that is a perfectly acceptable answer.
Is it religious?
No. Reiki comes out of 1920s Japan and spread in a secular setting. There is no prayer, no invocation, no belonging asked of you, and nothing will be proposed to you beyond the session. Isabelle learned the practice in Haiti, outside any school, and she claims no institution and no title for it.
What am I supposed to feel?
Nothing specific, and above all nothing that is asked of you. Most often people describe a diffuse warmth where the hands rest, sometimes light tingling, and very often nothing identifiable at all. None of those sensations measures anything and feeling nothing does not mean the session failed. It is probably the only important thing to know before coming: there is no right answer to give.
Can I keep my clothes on?
Yes, from start to finish, and it is one reason men often begin with this treatment. Only your shoes come off. Come in something you can comfortably lie in for an hour: tight jeans are not ideal, though they are not a problem either.
What about the chakra realignment in the $120 option?
That is the name of the long protocol, and it should be taken for what it is: the vocabulary of the practice, not a description of anything measurable. In practice the session is longer, the series of positions is complete, and more time is spent at each point. If the word puts you off, take the short format, you will not be missing anything essential.
How many times should I come?
As many as you feel like, and zero more. Nothing is sold as a series here and no progression is promised. Some men come once out of curiosity, others come back monthly because it is the only hour in their calendar when they are genuinely unreachable. Both uses are legitimate.
