Facials in Laval

You know your skin needs something. What it needs is the harder question.

Our facials

Before comparing them one by one, there is a distinction that makes the choice much simpler.

Some treatments work on the surface: they lift dead cells, clear pores, hydrate, calm. You see the effect immediately and you maintain it. That is the territory of the Hydrafacial, dermaplaning and microdermabrasion.

Others work on the structure, the layer beneath the surface where collagen and elastin are built. The effect takes weeks to show, but it changes the quality of the skin rather than how it looks today. That is microneedling, and on pigmentation, the peel.

Neither is better. Dull, dehydrated skin does not need structural work, and lost firmness will not come back from an exfoliation, however good. Most protocols combine the two, in an order that depends on what the analysis shows.

Comparing them

Each treatment answers a different concern. The table gives you enough to place yourself; the skin analysis settles the rest.

Before an event. Dermaplaning and the Hydrafacial are done in the days beforehand. Microdermabrasion needs a few days of margin. The peel and microneedling are not done just before: the skin needs its recovery time.

Keeping it up. Treatments with an immediate result are repeated regularly to hold the effect. The gradual ones need a series, then space out once the result is there.

Contraindications differ from one treatment to the next and are listed on each page. An inflammatory acne flare, active rosacea or an open wound push back just about everything, and the analysis is what checks for them.

A client seated in front of the Visia device, before her skin analysis

The skin analysis, free and optional

The Visia device photographs your skin under several lights and shows what a mirror will not: sun damage stored under the surface, the real state of your pores, areas of inflammation, texture.

We look at the images together, on the screen. That is often the moment someone understands why a product they bought three times does nothing, or why redness keeps coming back in the same spot.

It takes twenty minutes, it is free, and nothing obliges you to book afterwards. Nothing obliges you to start there either: if you know what you want, the calendar is open.

Questions people ask

Everything people ask us before a first session, answered plainly.

How do I know which facial is right for me?

This is the question that brings most people here, and the honest answer is that it cannot be settled from a distance. Two people describing exactly the same problem, a dull complexion say, can need completely different treatments depending on whether the cause is dehydration, a build-up of dead cells or slower cell turnover. Same symptom, different treatment. There is still a useful test before you come in: ask yourself whether what bothers you is how your skin looks today, in which case a surface treatment answers it, or its underlying quality, in which case the work is structural and counted in months.

How often should I have a facial?

It depends on the treatment and on your skin, and both logics live on this page. Some treatments belong in a routine and are maintained, because they work the surface and the surface reloads. Others are done in a close series over a few months, then spaced right out once the result is there, because they trigger a deeper process that does not need constant restarting. Something like the difference between maintaining and building. We settle the rhythm with you, and it happens that we suggest spacing appointments out.

Do I need the skin analysis every time?

No. Your skin does change, and faster than people think: dry winter heating and summer exposure are not the same problem, and a hormonal shift, a pregnancy, a move, a stretch of stress or a new medication all change what your skin wants. The analysis lets us follow your progress with images rather than memory, which is notoriously unreliable when you look at your own face every day. It takes about twenty minutes, it is free, and it commits you to nothing. But it is not required, and nobody will refuse you a treatment because your last analysis is old.

Can I have a facial if my skin is sensitive or reactive?

Yes, and it is often a good reason to come in rather than keep experimenting on your own. Reactive skin usually reacts less to one product than to an accumulation of them. Tell us what you have been using when you arrive, and we adjust: gentler protocol, shorter session, fewer actives at once. If what we see looks like it needs a doctor rather than an esthetician, we will say so.
