What is Hydrafacial
Hydrafacial is a treatment that uses a suction tip to cleanse, unclog and hydrate the skin in a single motion.
It works by creating a small vacuum at the surface. That vacuum loosens and draws out whatever is blocking the pores, while the serum arrives through the same channel. The suction helps clear the pores while the treatment solutions are delivered to the skin.
This treatment is mainly used to improve blocked pores, dehydration, a dull complexion and mild acne, blackheads and blocked pores.

Contraindications
AN INFLAMMATORY FLARE
With active inflammatory lesions we postpone the treatment. Hydrafacial suits congestion, blackheads and non-inflammatory blemishes better.
WHAT WE CHECK BEFORE
A health questionnaire is filled in before the first session. Tell us about a known allergy to an ingredient in the solutions, ongoing or recent isotretinoin (Accutane), a peel or a laser received recently on the area, an unstable skin condition, or a pregnancy. Depending on the situation we adapt the protocol or postpone the session.
A COLD SORE
A herpes outbreak means postponing, as it does for any treatment working on the surface of the face. Mention it when booking if you are prone to them.
COMPROMISED SKIN
An open wound, a recent sunburn or skin freshly treated with a strong acid do not tolerate suction. We wait for it to close.
A treatment adjusted to your skin
The result depends on settings decided during the session, based on your skin.

- It goes up on congested areas, the nose and the chin, and back down on the cheeks and around the eyes, where the skin is thinner.
- CHOICE OF TIPS
- Three tips follow one another, one per stage of the treatment. That is what makes it possible to chain exfoliation, extraction and infusion without switching method partway through.
- TIME SPENT PER AREA
- A more congested area, such as the nose, can take several passes where a cheek takes one. How the face is divided up is decided as we work.
- THE DELUXE SERUM
- Chosen according to what your skin shows that day: pigmentation, dehydration or blemishes.
Signature or Deluxe
The difference is in the targeting, not in the quality of the treatment. If you are coming in for general upkeep, the Signature is enough. If you have one specific concern to work on, the Deluxe adds a tool.

Everything people ask us before a first session, answered plainly.
Does Hydrafacial hurt?
Generally, no. The sensation is a gentle suction moving across the face, often described as pleasant. No heat, no needle, no numbing agent. Some areas, such as the sides of the nose, can be more sensitive: the pores are most congested there and the skin is thin. The suction is set more gently there if you ask.
How often should I come back?
Once a month is the most common upkeep rhythm, but the interval can be adjusted to your skin and your goals. The first effect shows from the very first session, and skin that reloads with oil quickly often asks for a closer rhythm at the start. The right interval depends on your skin and on what you expect from it, and it is decided at the first appointment.
Can I have one right before an event?
Yes, and it is one of its best uses. There is no recovery to plan for, and the effect is visible the same day. Many people book three or four days ahead rather than the day before, to give any local redness time to fade completely. That redness, when it appears, comes from the extraction and is limited to the areas that took more work, usually the nose and the chin.
How long does the effect last?
The immediate glow can stay visible for around five to seven days for many people, but how long it lasts varies with the skin, the formula and care at home. This is not a treatment whose result accumulates the way microneedling does: each session gives its own effect, and it is regularity that maintains the state of the skin. That is why it is thought of as upkeep rather than as a plan with a fixed end.
What is the difference with a regular deep cleanse?
A conventional cleanse works in separate steps: exfoliate, rinse, extract by hand, then apply. Hydrafacial combines suction and infusion in the same motion, with the same device. In practice, the skin takes no harsh friction and extraction happens by suction rather than finger pressure.
Does it suit blemish-prone skin?
Yes, as long as there is no inflammatory flare in progress. On skin mainly congested with blackheads and comedones, suction extraction can help clear the pores without heavy manual extraction. With active red, painful or inflammatory lesions we postpone the treatment instead. The acne and scarring page explains in what order to tackle the two.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes, with spacing. Hydrafacial works on the surface, whereas a treatment like microneedling works on structure at depth. The two complement each other well within a plan. At L'Institut Béa we prefer to space Hydrafacial apart from microneedling and peels: the exact interval depends on the treatment received, its intensity and the state of your skin. The usual order puts the surface treatment first.
