What is semi-permanent makeup
Semi-permanent makeup places pigment under the surface layer of the skin, to draw a brow that holds for months.
Two techniques exist. Microblading places the pigment with a manual blade, stroke by stroke, to imitate hair. Powder Brows place it with a machine, in tight dots, which gives a powdered effect close to a lightly made-up brow.
This service addresses sparse, uneven or absent brows, and the pencil you redraw every morning.
"Semi-permanent" means the pigment fades, not that it disappears.

The consultation is free, takes 30 minutes, and exists to choose the technique, the shape and the shade before anything is placed.
Contraindications
What we already know, and what will appear there: pregnancy and breastfeeding, damaged or irritated skin on the brow bone, and isotretinoin (Accutane) treatment ongoing or recent. The free consultation exists precisely to check all of that before you commit.

- Microblading suits skin that is not oily. On oily or combination skin the strokes tend to spread, and Powder Brows hold better.

- It is drawn to suit your face and your bone structure, not a trend. It is traced in pencil and approved with you before any pigment goes in.

- It is chosen for your skin and your hair. Pigment shifts as it fades, so the choice accounts for where it will head.

- It is part of the process and it is what sets the final result. It is included with Powder Brows.

We choose the technique, the shape and the shade together, and we check that no contraindication applies.

The outline
On the day of the session, the shape is drawn in pencil and approved with you in the mirror. Nothing goes in before you agree.

Placing the pigment
With a blade or a machine, depending on the technique chosen, in successive passes.

The healing instructions
They decide a good part of the result, and you are given them in writing.

The touch-up
A few weeks later, once the colour has settled. It is what sets the final result.

Does it hurt?
This places pigment under the surface layer of the skin, so there is a sensation. It is most often described as a sustained scratching rather than as outright pain, and it varies across the brow: the head is generally more sensitive than the tail. Comfort options are discussed at the consultation, before the session rather than during it. The pace adapts if you need it to.
How long does it really last?
"Semi-permanent" means the pigment fades, not that it disappears. The wear is counted in months and varies a great deal with the skin, sun exposure and the products used on the face. A touch-up is part of the process, and it is what sets the final result. We give you the order of magnitude at the consultation, based on what we see on your skin, not a guarantee.
Which technique should I choose?
It depends mostly on your skin. Microblading imitates hair with a blade and gives the most natural finish, but it holds less well on oily skin, where the strokes tend to spread. Powder Brows place the pigment with a machine and give a powdered effect, more stable on that skin type. The free consultation exists to settle exactly that.
Can I have it done before an event?
No, and it matters. The colour looks darker for the first few days, then lightens as it settles, and the skin needs time to recover. Allow several weeks, touch-up included. The consultation will give you the real calendar for the technique chosen. If your date is close, a lamination or a tint is what you need, not this service.
What if I do not like the result?
It is a legitimate worry about a service that holds for months, and it is precisely why nothing is placed until the shape has been drawn in pencil and approved with you in the mirror. At that stage, everything can still be corrected. The pigment then fades over time, so nothing is permanent, but fading takes months. The touch-up also allows the intensity and the shape to be adjusted once the colour has settled.
What if I already have permanent makeup done elsewhere?
Say so when you book the consultation, with whatever you know about the technique and the date. Old pigment changes what is possible: the shade that can go over it, the shape that can be achieved, and sometimes whether it can be done at all. That is mostly what the consultation will be for, and it stays free even if the answer is no.
Can it be removed?
Not here. The pigment fades over the months, but active removal belongs to techniques the institute does not practise. It is one more reason not to skip the consultation: the best moment to avoid a regret is before, not after.
