The face changes at several levels over the years, and those changes stack, which is why one treatment does not always answer everything. Sun mainly speeds up the first of them, and that is where you have real leverage.
The quality of the skin changes
The dermis and its collagen shift with age and accumulated sun, and that is what microneedling is designed to restart.
Expressions mark certain areas
The forehead, the glabella and the eye area crease in the same places, and over time a line first visible only in movement can stay noticeable at rest.
Volume and deeper support change
Some compartments lose volume or redistribute and the bony support evolves too, which can flatten a cheekbone, hollow a temple or soften the jawline.
Tissue can slacken
That is not the same thing as a loss of volume. It shows most along the jawline, the jowls and the neck, and it is the part an institute can do the least about.
It depends which kind, and your face at rest and then in movement already gives you clues.
Clues, not a full answer. Most people have all four to some degree, which is exactly why we look together in consultation at what weighs most in what bothers you.
What can be treated
The expression line
The one that shows mostly when you smile, frown or raise your brows. Movement weighs heavily on it, movement is the target, and this is the fastest kind to respond.
The settled line
The one still visible when your face is completely still. Depending on the area and the depth, the plan targets the quality of the skin, the movement still marking it, or both.
Firmness starting to go
Skin a little less toned, without the jawline having really given way. Work on skin quality can help, modestly: that is not a facelift and we will never present it as one.
Volume loss
A cheekbone flattening, a temple hollowing, a fold becoming more marked. A filler can be an option, and it is the physician who decides, after looking at the whole face, whether adding volume genuinely improves what bothers you.
What we do not treat here
Significant sagging
A facial, a peel or microneedling do not reposition tissue that has genuinely slackened. When lifting tissue is the goal, surgery gives the most marked results. We do not perform it, and we do not offer non-surgical tightening technology either: we will tell you rather than sell a skin treatment as a facelift.
A deeply etched line
It softens, it does not disappear. Nobody can honestly promise otherwise.

How to choose the right approach
Choosing means looking at what genuinely drives the change: the quality of the skin, movement, volume and how much the tissue has slackened. The esthetic consultation is free for that first sort, and any injection then goes through a separate medical assessment.

Everything people ask us before a first session, answered plainly.
Is it too late for me?
No, and it is the question that comes up most often in consultation. Mature skin keeps its capacity to renew itself, simply more slowly. What changes is the starting point, how long it takes and how much you can expect. The realistic goal at sixty is not the one at thirty, and saying so up front saves a lot of disappointment. There is even an advantage to starting later that is rarely mentioned: you know what you want, and you are less tempted by things you do not need. At any age, daily sun protection stays the highest-return habit. Its effect shows up over the next ten years, not the last ten.
Can a cream really do anything?
Yes, but not where people think. A good cream works on hydration, the skin barrier and protection, which genuinely improves how skin looks day to day: well-hydrated skin reflects light better and its fine lines show less. And some actives go further than hydration. Retinoids, including tretinoin when a doctor prescribes it, have real evidence on photoageing and fine lines, provided they are used for months. What no cream does is recreate lost volume or reposition slackened tissue. A home routine and an in-clinic treatment are not competitors, then: they work differently and complement each other. If your budget is tight, sun protection and a simple routine with well-chosen actives beat an expensive cream with spectacular claims.
Do I have to end up on injectables?
No. A line visible at rest does not mean an injection is called for: depending on its depth and on what still feeds it, work on skin quality can be relevant, alone or alongside something else. Microneedling and chemical peels work there. A physician's procedures answer what skin alone does not fix: a line a contracting muscle keeps marking, and volume that has hollowed out. That is exactly what the consultation is for when the two overlap. Plenty of people leave with a plan that contains no medical step at all, and that is a normal outcome.
How long before I see a difference?
It depends entirely on the approach. A hydrating facial shows the same day, on glow and texture, and that is useful before an event. A peel is judged after the skin has finished flaking, and it is often done in a series. Microneedling takes several weeks, because remodelling is gradual. Neuromodulators start within days and are judged around two weeks, and a filler gives an immediate effect whose result can only be judged once the swelling has settled. Plans are therefore built over months, with sessions deliberately spaced out. We explain that in consultation so you know what you are getting into.
Can approaches be combined?
Yes, when several components genuinely drive what bothers you. That does not mean a plan has to contain several treatments: one well-chosen treatment beats a pile of them. When several approaches are retained, their order and spacing depend on the specific treatments. Skin that has just been exfoliated or perforated does not need a second demand on top, and once a medical procedure is in the plan, the physician's instructions set the gaps. The order is decided by what weighs most on the result, not by one protocol applied the same way to everyone.
What does it cost to maintain the result?
It depends entirely on the approach retained, and the question is better asked before starting than after. A facial, a peel, a microneedling series and an injectable have neither the same duration nor the same frequency. So we tell you from the start what the option you choose actually asks for, upkeep included. A physician's procedures follow their own rhythm, and he sets that with you. What costs nothing and does the most for the long run is daily sun protection. Without it, you maintain on one side what you damage on the other.
