Sports massage in Laval

A body that recovers well can take the next session. Sports massage works on recovery after training, on range of motion, and on the areas your sport loads first.

TYPE OF CARE

Sports massage therapy. No medical procedure.

What is sports massage

Sports massage is hands-on work aimed at performance and recovery, done by Hamza, sports massage therapist.

What separates it from a relaxation massage is not how hard the pressure is. It is the intent. Here the work follows the muscle chain your sport uses, not only the spot that hurts.

A tight calf on a runner, a shoulder that catches on a swimmer, closed hips on someone who cycles: these are predictable tensions, and they come from the movement you repeat.

This treatment addresses recovery after effort, range of motion, tension from repeated movement, and preparation before a date on the calendar.

Hamza adds two approaches when the session calls for them: assisted stretching, where he places and holds the position for you, and cupping therapy, which works the tissue by suction rather than by pressure.

Is sports massage right for you?

This treatment works the muscle around what you ask of it.

It is for you if:

  • Your soreness stacks up instead of clearing

The week starts tired, and your training volume has not changed.

  • A movement no longer goes as far as it used to

The shoulder, the hip or the ankle catches somewhere, without real pain but without range either.

  • The same area reloads after every session

Always the same calf, the same glute, the same trap. Repeated movement leaves its mark in the same place.

  • You have a date in front of you

A race, a tournament, something on the calendar, and you want to arrive with a body that is available.

Torn between sports and therapeutic?

Write to us before booking. If your tension comes from how you sit at work rather than from training, massage therapy with Isabelle suits you better, and she issues an insurance receipt.

Contraindications

A RECENT OR UNDIAGNOSED INJURY

Sharp pain, swelling or loss of strength need a medical opinion before any session. Sports massage supports recovery, it does not replace a diagnosis.

A FEVER OR AN INFECTION

Massage moves circulation, which is not what you want during an active infection. We reschedule at no cost.

PHLEBITIS OR A CIRCULATORY CONDITION

These need your doctor's opinion, and may rule out certain areas without ruling out the treatment. A recent wound or a skin infection on the area also postpones the session.

FOR CUPPING

It adds to the list above: fragile skin, blood thinners or a tendency to bruise rule it out.

A session adjusted to your sport

Two people running the same ten kilometres do not carry the same tension, and three things explain why the session changes.

WHAT YOU PLAY
Hamza asks about your sport, your volume, and your next date if you have one. A cyclist and a tennis player do not open the same chains.
WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR WEEK
A session the day before a competition is not a session the day after a race. In one case we look for range without adding fatigue, in the other we work what is loaded.
WHAT THE BODY GIVES BACK
Pressure changes from one area to the next, and with whatever resists. You can have it changed at any moment, and you should.
THE FORMAT, 60 OR 90 MINUTES
In an hour, the areas you flagged get worked. In ninety minutes, assisted stretching or cupping can be added, and the whole chain can be followed rather than one segment of it.

The appointment step by step

We want to do everything we can to bring you toward the best version of yourself. That is why every session follows the same steps.

Common questions

Everything people ask us before a first session, answered plainly.

What is the difference between sports and therapeutic massage?

The way in. Therapeutic starts from the tension and works to undo it, wherever it came from. Sports starts from the movement you repeat and follows the chain it loads, which often means working areas where nothing hurt at all. Both use firm pressure and they overlap a great deal. What really separates them here is the practitioner: Hamza for sports, Isabelle for therapeutic, and she is the only one of the two who issues an insurance receipt. If your tension comes from ten hours in a chair rather than from training, go to her.

Do I need to be a serious athlete?

No, and this is the question we hear most. Sports massage is for anyone who asks their body for repeated effort, which includes the person who runs three times a week, the one who went back to the gym in January, and the one who climbs stairs all day at work. Repeated movement tires the same chains whether or not anyone is timing you. What shapes the session is the nature of your movement, not your level.

When should I book relative to a competition?

Two windows work, and they do not call for the same session. Three to five days out, we can work deep: the body has time to absorb it. The day or two before, the session stays light and looks for range without creating soreness. What to avoid is a first deep session forty-eight hours before something that matters, because you would meet your soreness at the worst moment. Tell us your date when you book, it changes how the hour is built.

Does cupping leave marks?

Yes, often, and you should know before. It leaves purplish circles that stay from a few days to about a week and a half, without pain. They are not bruises in the sense of a knock, but they look like them. If you have a wedding, a photo shoot or a competition in a swimsuit coming up, say so and Hamza will work another way. Fragile skin, blood thinners or a tendency to bruise rule it out.

What is assisted stretching?

It is a stretch you do not do yourself. Hamza places the limb, holds the position and doses the tension, which lets you go past the point where your own stretching always stops, because you release instinctively before then. He usually alternates contraction and release to gain range. It helps when a movement catches without hurting, and it fits well alongside a massage inside the same ninety minutes.

Will I be sore afterward?

It is common after deep work, especially the first time. The muscle was worked, a little like after unfamiliar training, and the feeling usually clears in a day or two. Drinking more and moving gently genuinely helps. What should get your attention is pain that is sharp rather than diffuse, sitting on one point, or lasting more than two or three days: the pressure was too much for your body that day.

Is Hamza there every day?

No, he works by appointment and his days are not the same every week. His real openings show online, which is the simplest way to see when he is in rather than calling. If nothing works for you in the next few days, write to us: spots do open up.
