Lip hydration in Laval

The lips are a sensitive area and the injections can be uncomfortable. A local anaesthetic is applied beforehand and left on long enough to work, which is not negotiable here; depending on the product chosen, it may also contain lidocaine. The first points are the least comfortable, then the area numbs. Most people describe the experience as unpleasant and no more, and it lasts a few minutes.

The result we are after is deliberately discreet. It does not set out to create a new lip shape or a more marked border: what changes is a matter of surface quality, a suppler lip, less creased in the light. Someone who knows you very well may still notice that your lips look a little smoother. There is one exception, and it is temporary: for the first few days, the swelling does show.

The swelling is generally most visible over the first 24 to 48 hours, then it settles gradually. A bruise, tenderness or some remaining swelling can last several days, and it takes about two weeks before the result can be judged. It is normal to find that evening that it is far too much: what you are seeing is oedema. Follow the instructions the physician gives you, and do not plan this appointment the day before an event.

The effect fades gradually over the months. Its exact duration and the rhythm of treatments depend on the product used, the quantity injected and how you respond: the physician gives you the order of magnitude he observes with his product. The lips then tend back toward how they look untreated, and you decide whether to go again.

Often yes, and it is what to try first. For two to three weeks, favour a simple, unscented, non-irritating product, along with suitable sun protection. If your lips stay cracked, flaky, painful or constantly irritated despite that, the first thing is to understand why. A hyaluronic acid injection is an esthetic procedure to improve the quality of a healthy lip; it does not replace the assessment of cheilitis or another medical problem. If your lips are healthy and what bothers you is mainly their texture or their suppleness, the physician can discuss the point of the procedure with you.

That is for the physician to say, and his answer depends on what he observes. The two procedures do not aim at the same thing, one surface quality and the other structure, so they are not competitors. What is discussed is the order and the spacing: two products placed in the same lip on the same day make it harder to judge where the result comes from, and the swelling adds up. Nothing is combined without his assessment.

A hyaluronic acid product can be broken down with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, where a correction or medical care calls for it. The result of dissolving depends on the product and the situation, though, and it can take more than one intervention. On this procedure the question rarely comes up, because the quantity placed is small. But the possibility exists, and it is worth knowing before booking rather than after.
