It is counted in cumulative hours, not in sessions, because the work is done hair by hair. The total depends on the number of hairs, how deep they sit and which area is involved. Those hours are not done in one block: they spread over several appointments and several growth cycles. How often you come back depends on the area, the density and how fast new hairs become visible. Not every hair in an area is visible, or at the same stage of growth, at the same time. Successive sessions treat them as they appear, and some follicles need more than one treatment before their ability to grow a hair is fully destroyed. Yes, and it is the only method recognised as such. When a follicle is correctly and sufficiently treated, its growth cells can be destroyed permanently. That does not mean a single insertion works every time on every hair, nor that no other hair will appear in the area afterwards. Over time, or with certain hormonal changes, follicles that used to produce very fine or invisible hair can start producing thicker hair. Those new hairs are not the ones that were treated before.

Yes, and it is often the best sequence. For a large area covered in dark hair, starting with the laser is usually more efficient in time. Electrolysis then becomes particularly useful for the light or stray hairs that remain. It is not an absolute rule. A little, yes, unlike with laser. The probe follows the hair to reach the follicle, so the hair has to be visible and possible to grip. A few days of growth is enough. What is off-limits is pulling: wax, tweezers and epilators remove the hair from the follicle, and then there is nothing left to follow.

Yes, and it is one of the clearest indications. Ink absorbs the laser's energy unpredictably, which makes laser treatment impossible over a tattoo. Electrolysis does not depend on light: the probe follows the hair, whatever the colour of the skin around it. The same is true over a scar or a pigmented area.
