Reflexology in Laval
An hour to come down, without having to undress. Reflexology works on stress, nervous tension, broken sleep and the need to switch off, through the foot.

NATURE OF THE TREATMENT
A relaxation practice. No medical treatment or diagnosis.
What is reflexology
Reflexology is work through pressure on the foot, preceded by a herbal foot bath.
It rests on a principle that is simple to state: the foot is mapped into zones, each associated with a part of the body. That correspondence is the foundation of the practice, not a fact established by medicine, and we say so.
This treatment addresses stress, nervous tension, sleep that breaks up and the need to switch off.
What is observable is what happens during the session: an hour of rhythmic pressure brings the nervous system down.

Is reflexology right for you?
This treatment uses the foot as a way in, to bring the nervous system down.
It is for you if:
You cannot switch off
The foot is a long way from the head, and attention travels naturally to where the hands are working.
The idea of undressing holds you back
Only your feet are uncovered. It is often the right way into a first visit at an institute.
Your sleep breaks up
The restlessness that will not come down in the evening, and the repeated waking.
You are on your feet all day
Your feet carry the day's fatigue, even when you are not thinking about them.
If you are looking to treat a specific health problem, this is not the place
Reflexology is a relaxation practice, and it is presented as one. We will tell you rather than leave you hoping for something else.
Contraindications
A WOUND, AN INFECTION OR ATHLETE'S FOOT
The work covers the whole surface of the foot, so there is no way to work around a lesion. We postpone the session at no charge.
A BLOOD CLOT OR A CIRCULATORY CONDITION
The hot foot bath and the pressure work both call for a medical opinion in those situations.
A HIGH-RISK PREGNANCY
Pregnancy itself rules nothing out. A high-risk pregnancy needs your doctor's or your midwife's agreement before any session.

A treatment adjusted to your feet
Four things govern the session, and the first is not decorative.
- THE FOOT BATH FIRST
- The heat relaxes the tissue and makes the pressure tolerable where it would be unpleasant on a cold, tense foot.
- WORKING POINT BY POINT
- The thumbs move in successive presses across the whole sole, then the top of the foot, the toes and the ankle. Nothing is left out.
- LISTENING FOR THE REACTIVE POINTS
- Some points react more than others, and those are the ones Isabelle goes back to, more gently and more often, until the reaction settles.
- BOTH FEET, ALWAYS
- The session is symmetrical, even when only one foot seems to react.

Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask us before a first session, answered plainly.
Does it tickle?
It is the most widespread worry before a first session, and it settles almost always within the first few minutes. Tickling comes from light, moving, unpredictable contact: the brain cannot anticipate what is coming and reacts by pulling away. Reflexology does the opposite. The presses are firm, steady and predictable, and the brain reads them as work rather than as a surprise. The foot bath helps too. If you are very sensitive, say so right at the start.
What is the herbal foot bath for?
To prepare the foot, and it matters more than it looks. A cold, tense foot takes pressure badly: the sensitive points are more so, the tissue does not give under the thumbs, and the session becomes an endurance exercise rather than a moment of calm. The heat softens the tissue and starts the release before the hands even begin. There is a third effect, less technical: it is the moment the day closes. Plenty of people describe it as their favourite part of the whole session.
Do my feet have to hurt for it to be worth it?
No, and that misunderstanding keeps a lot of people from a treatment that would suit them. Reflexology is not aimed first at sore feet: it uses the foot as a way in to bring the nervous system down, taking advantage of how densely supplied with nerve endings it is. The people who get the most from it are often those with no foot problem at all, but a head that never stops. That said, if your feet are tired from standing all day, you will find something here too.
Why do some points hurt more than others?
Because sensitivity is not uniform across the sole: the thickness of the skin, how close the bone sits and nerve density all vary from one area to another, and an area heavily used by your posture or your shoes reacts more. One point deserves saying plainly: a more reactive area is a sign of nothing where your health is concerned, and nobody here will read it that way or suggest you go and check anything. Isabelle simply returns to those points more gently, and the sensitivity generally eases over the sessions.
What if I do not like my feet?
You are very far from the only one, and it has never stopped anyone from booking. It is in fact the number-one hesitation about this treatment, well ahead of price or length. Neither the shape, nor callouses, nor a damaged nail, nor chipped polish matters in the slightest. Isabelle works on feet all day; she sees them as territory to cover, and there is no judgement in that room. You do not have to prepare your feet before coming, any more than you would prepare your back before a massage.
How many sessions should I plan for?
A single session already gives the effect you came for, which is calm, and plenty of people only come occasionally. What changes with regularity, from what is generally observed in practice, is the sensitivity of the reactive points, which eases. Nothing commits you to a series, and nobody here will sell you one.
What is the difference with a foot massage?
The intention, and therefore the movements. A foot massage seeks muscular release and relaxation, with flowing movements. Reflexology moves point by point, through firm and predictable pressure, across the whole map of the foot rather than the tense areas. If muscular tension is what brings you in, massage therapy is what you need.
